basicDIM ILD G2

The local sensor-based plug & play control

Efficiency, comfort and ease of use

basicDIM ILD G2 is a sensor-based, plug-and-play lighting control solution designed to deliver immediate energy savings with minimal complexity. By combining presence detection and daylight-based control in one compact DALI-2 system, it ensures that light is only used when it is truly needed – and exactly at the right level. This is smart lighting control reduced to what really matters: efficiency, comfort and ease of use.

Smart control that pays off

A lighting system controlled by basicDIM ILD G2 automatically adapts to people and ambient light conditions. Integrated PIR sensors reliably detect presence, while the built-in light sensor continuously measures daylight and balances artificial light accordingly. The result is a lighting environment that feels natural to users and significantly reduces operating costs.

Plug & play simplicity

basicDIM ILD G2 has been developed for fast, straightforward installation. No software, no apps and no complex commissioning are required. Once installed, the system is immediately operational and ready to save energy.
A practical infrared remote control allows fine-tuning on site – from target light levels to follow-up times – ensuring the lighting behavior fits perfectly to the space. Additional DALI-2 sensors can be integrated effortlessly to extend the detection area, making the system flexible for both small rooms and larger zones.

BasicDIM ILD G2 is also available as a ready-made module for Tecton. Two integrated DALI bus power supplies with a total output of 140 mA ensure that the system can also control heavily populated TECTON rails without any issues. Other sensors from the TECTON MSENS family are available to increase the detection range.

Lighting that drives efficiency

With continuous dimming via DALI-2, luminaires are adjusted smoothly to match visual needs. Automatic switch-off during absence and intelligent daylight harvesting can unlock energy savings of up to 85% compared to uncontrolled installations, depending on application and usage patterns.
Depending on occupancy profiles and available daylight, this translates directly into a compelling return on investment. basicDIM ILD G2 reduces energy consumption without compromising visual comfort, helping building owners and operators lower operating costs, shorten payback times and improve the overall sustainability performance of their projects.

One system, many applications

basicDIM ILD G2 is designed for a wide range of local applications. Different sensor variants cover low-bay, mid-bay and high-bay installations, making the solution suitable across multiple environments.
It is an ideal choice for offices and educational buildings, retail and commercial spaces, as well as industrial and logistics facilities. From corridors and ancillary rooms to open offices, production areas or warehouses with high ceilings, basicDIM ILD G2 delivers reliable, autonomous lighting control.

Scalable DALI-2 performance

The heart of the system is a powerful DALI-2 sensor that can autonomously control up to 64 luminaires. The bus supply can consist of up to two DALI bus power supplies, which ensure stable system performance. Note: Two DALI PS are already installed in TECTON inserts with basicDIM ILD G2.
Manual control via standard wall switches can be added through interface modules, combining automated efficiency with intuitive user interaction whenever required.

Designed for comfort and acceptance

The easier a lighting system is to use, the higher its acceptance. basicDIM ILD G2 works quietly and reliably in the background, supporting visual tasks without drawing attention to itself. Smooth dimming, adaptive light levels and automatic operation create a comfortable lighting experience for everyone in the space.
This balance between automation and simplicity reflects the Zumtobel approach: intelligent technology that enhances everyday environments without unnecessary complexity.

Questions regarding the BasicDIM ILD G2

What is the maximum number of luminaires that can be controlled with basicDIM ILD G2?

The basicDIM ILD G2 system allows users to control up to 64 DALI luminaires. The innovative DALI broadcast technology ensures that all luminaires respond synchronously to control commands.

What expansion options does basicDIM ILD G2 offer for additional sensors?

You can integrate up to eight additional MSensor G3 units into the system. Presence detection works based on the OR principle. Daylight control is performed exclusively through the basicDIM ILD G2 sensor.

How do I select the appropriate DALI bus supply for my system?

Every basicDIM ILD G2 system requires a DALI bus power supply. A DALI PS3 provides a current of 70 mA. The basicDIM ILD G2 uses 14 mA, an mSensor 9 mA, and a DALI luminaire 2 mA. By combining two DALI PS3, you can achieve 140 mA.

Which luminaires already have an integrated basicDIM ILD G2 sensor?

The CRAFT PIRILD luminaire is already equipped with the system.

Can separate luminaire groups be formed with basicDIM ILD G2?

The system works without separate groups. However, the daylight control system allows for a fixed offset value for two areas. You will find the precise details in the IR remote control manual.
